FAQ - Room Planner ~BETA~

FAQ - Room Planner ~BETA~ - FAQs

  1. What is the Room Planner tool?

Create a simple floorplan and populate your walls with cabinets from our Faceframe and Full Access collections. ROOM PLANNER makes it easy to recreate an existing cabinet layout or start designing a new space from scratch.

ROOM PLANNER is currently in Beta. While it provides an intuitive way to plan and configure your project, it is not intended to replace professional cabinet design software. For this we recommend KCD SOFTWARE as the ultimate tool for designing accurate cabinet floorplans, 3D Renderings, Quotes, and Orders from Cabinotch.

  2. Why is this shown on the website as "BETA"?

We’re labeling it Beta because we’re continuing to improve the experience, add functionality, and incorporate customer feedback as the tool evolves. This allows us to make the Room Planner available now while we continue working toward its full potential. We know from our own experience and that our partners, what the standards are for design tools in our industry.

  3. Generating Walls *Disclaimer

As this is presently in BETA release, please note the following when starting a project.

When adding walls, once you select ‘Generate’ you will not have an ability to modify the walls drawn, add new, or remove walls. Do not proceed with your project until you are satisfied with the walls drawn.

Cabinotch suggests that should you have a ‘Project’ with multiple rooms, you generate a ‘Plan’ for each.

  4. NEW Feature - 'Room Planner Presets'

If you’ve ordered cabinets from our webstore before, you are familiar with what we call ‘Presets’, these are standards which you specify and then are applied as the defaulted selection on many of the variables which can be set specific to each cabinet, namely: Material selections and construction methodology. Where this Preset functionality is much the same as it was before, think instead that what you are doing when you start a project (plan) is defining the preset to be used when initially starting the work.

You may now change Preset selections on cabinets either as you move forward through a plan or change details which will affect all the cabinets already rendered in the space!

  5. Catalog - SKU Based Cabinet Model Names

At launch (Beta), our Room Planner catalog will appear to call out different cabinet models than you may be used to. Presently we are limited on the space available to show the descriptive name of cabinet models or show thumbnail images of each cabinet. Every cabinet currently available is here and there is a translation table available below for your reference. Cabinotch came up with this naming method and expect that with a little practice you can become fluent with them as well:

Effectively, the SKU names read like this [Category].Top Opening-Bottom Openings

*These translations will be made for you in the BOM (Bill of Materials) available as you build your plan.
